You know that blanket I keep on about, with hundreds of Manchester people knitting woollen squares for Oxfam’s giant petition for mothers’ right to health? You know how I also keep saying it’s going to be exhibited in Manchester? Well, the launch of the exhibition is on Thursday 16th October 2008 at 7:00pm in Manchester Town Hall, Committe Room 2. You can view the completed blanket and also watch a documentary of how the whole project was born and developed.
The blanket has already had some significant impact- it was showcased during Conference and it was presented to Gillian Merrion MP, then Minister for the Department of International Development.
After the exhibition has been launched at Manchester Town Hall, the blanket will be exhibited again in more public venues in the city and eventually will be broken into panels, which will be then exhibited permanently in key venues around Manchester.
There will be a limited capacity on the night, so invites are being offered on a first come, first served basis. To confirm your attendance please either email your name to Serena Tramonti, firstname.lastname@example.org, or ring Serena on 0161 234 2793/07825780651, requesting an extra place if you wish to bring a guest.
