The smell of Conference is in the air…

…as if I wasn’t excited enough about it, signs welcoming Labour to Manchester have gone up around the city centre and the MEN ran a story today on the £18 million’s worth of moolah that Conference is expected to net the city. (OK, yes, we all remember the last time a potentially disruptive event in the city centre was bigged up beforehand as something that would bring money in – but as a steward I promise to do my best to prevent Labour delegates from rioting in Piccadilly Gardens.)
